Mr. Allen leads the firm’s employment and labor practice and has successfully handled hundreds of such cases including a substantial number of discrimination and Fair Labor Standards Act claims. He led the effort that produced the multi-million dollar settlement of sexual harassment claims at a Tyson Foods plant in Alabama. In the Tyson case, money damages were awarded in addition to court ordered injunctive relief and appointment of a court monitor to cure the wide-spread sexual harassment problem.
Mr. Allen was instrumental in achieving settlement in a case involving a landmark Title IX ruling by the Supreme Court in favor of an Alabama high-school girl’s basketball coach. After remand, Mr. Allen had the lead role in litigating the case and obtained a settlement that includes the hiring of a Title IX coordinator to assure compliance and equal facilities.
